Abstract
Genetic variation in grain yield per plot, plant height, number of spikelets per spike, 1000-grain weight, sedimentation value and protein content was assessed in 49 interspecific derivatives of durum wheat during 1996/97 and 1997/98 in New Delhi, India. The durum derivatives were divided into 3 groups based on the type of species used as donors, i.e. group 1 (T. turgidum x T. durum), group II (T. timopheevii x T. durum) and group III (T. aestivum x T. durum). Analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences among genotypes for all traits. In general, group I derivatives had a great range for grain yield and protein content, group II derivatives for 1000-grain weight and sedimentation value, and group III derivatives for number of spikelets per spike and protein content
