Abstract
The inheritance of stripe rust ( Puccinia striiformis [ Puccinia striiformis var. striiformis ]) resistance in wheat ( Triticum aestivum ) was studied by evaluating the response of 6 hexaploid cultivars and 10 F SUB 1 progenies on the half diallel mating cross pathogen race (134EI82A SUP + ). Resistance components, i.e. latent period, infection type, pustule size and density were recorded. There were significant differences for all traits shown between the genotypes, which were also indicative of reversal dominance. Diallel analysis showed that in response of the race 134EI82A SUP + , dominant variance was more important than additive variance. Cultivar Tajan had the most GCA among other parents for resistance increase. Furthermore, the dominant effects for most alleles were also shown. There was significant correlation among traits for each race. Broad sense habitability for 134EI82A SUP + was 97.1% while the narrow sense heritability was 70.4%
