Abstract
Summary: The dynamics of ABA and wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) content and WGA-gene expression have been studied in roots of 4-d-old wheat seedlings treated with 4 micromolar ABA and 0.3 micromolar GA. Both hormones caused rapid and significant effects on WGA accumulation, though GA might control this process independently of ABA, since the content of endogenous ABA did not change after GA-treatment. The results of dot-blot analysis of transcripts of RNA using the 32P labelled WGA-gene as a probe showed that a two-fold increase in WGA content resulted from ABA- and GA-induced activation of WGA-gene expression
