Equipment Operator at Arizona Plant Breeders

Overview:
Arizona Plant Breeders Inc., a division of Arizona Grain Inc., is seeking a reliable, hands-on team member to operate and maintain agricultural research equipment including combines, tractors, planters, and tillage machinery. The ideal candidate has a degree in agriculture or a related field and is comfortable working in both field and shop environments.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operate plot combine harvesters, tractors, planters, and tillage tools for research trials
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment
• Assist with field preparation, planting, harvest, and data collection activities
• Assist with seed setup and preparation before planting (cleaning, weighing, treating, loading)
• Transport equipment between trial locations
• Maintain clear records of operations, equipment use, and service
• Support research staff in field trial implementation and logistics
• Follow safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized work environment

Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Science, or related field
• Hands-on experience operating farm equipment preferred (training available)
• Basic mechanical knowledge; able to perform equipment maintenance and minor repairs
• Ability to work long hours during peak seasons, including weekends if needed
• Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

Preferred Skills:
• Experience in research settings or small plot trials
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
