Copy number variation for vrn-A1 was detected in IL369 (2 copies) (Fu et al., 2005), Malacca (2 copies) and Heeward (3 copies). Higher copy number was associated with later flowering or with increasing requirement for vernalization (i.e. longer exposure to cold is needed to achieve full vernalization) (Diaz et al., 2012).
