The Minot UMOPN was planted April 13. April was characterized by cool and dry conditions. Soil moisture was somewhat short, but stand establishment was good. Temperatures remained moderate to cool through the remainder of the growing season. Rainfall beginning mid-May relieved dry soil conditions and continuing rain showers supplied adequate, but not excess, moisture through mid-June. No further rainfall occurred until early July when showers provided adequate moisture. No rain occurred from mid-July until early August. Cool and dry conditions prevented development of diseases, thus diseases were not a problem at this location.
