Yr2 is recessive. Yr2 originally referred to a gene in Heines VII conferring resistance to European pathotypes. However, Heines VII possesses an additional resistance gene (968) which can be detected with a geographically wider range of pathogen isolates. Yr2 is present in Kalyansona (968) and a range of spring wheats distributed by CIMMYT.
Hexaploid stocks: Wizard, Marksman and Galahad are heterogeneous. Avocet is a United Kingdom accession.
