Abstract
Of 4530 entries in a world oat collection, the variety Burt was highly resistant and 25 others were classified as resistant. Study of the F1' F2and F3 data from a diallel cross involving the resistant varieties Dubois and Victorgrain 48-93 and the susceptible varieties Arlington and Lee indicated that resistance is governed by a single gene pair with resistance dominant to susceptibility. In the F2 of a cross between Dubois and Victorgrain 48-93, all plants were resistant, and of the 168 lines derived from them, 165 were homozygous resistant and three segregated, indicating the presence of two closely-linked genes.
